Does jumping off a 100 ft. platform mean you are confident?

About two years ago I went to the National White-Water Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. I decided I wanted to do something memorable, this led me to the 100 ft. platform.  It wasn’t a zipline or a bungee it was simply a rope and a harness mechanism and as you got closer to the ground the tension would slow the rope.

I walked up several flights of stairs to the top.  There was nobody in front of me or behind me, because honestly nobody else in my group really felt like this was the memory they wanted to commit too.  I got to the top and I thought I was going to faint.  Did you know that 100 feet looks way lower from the ground then it does from the sky.

The employee strapped me into my harness as he reassured me that i met the weight the requirements and height requirements.  Because I told him I look taller and thinner than I really am thanks to having good genes.

I walked to the edge and asked him to push me because my legs and feet refused to step off the platform.  Apparently, that’s a liability issue.

While I was praying and trying to decide if I could handle the embarrassment of walking back down all those flights of stairs, the instructor kept saying one thing over and over again

“JUST TAKE ONE CONFIDENT STEP FORWARD”

AND I DID!

This next episode is a wonderful conversation about confidence:

After you have listened.
